The contribution Dom Giordano made to Archbishop Chaput was a generous act on the part of the radio station. My concern is deeper than the contribution.
Before the archbishop came on the air, Dom spoke of race, his view of why poverty exists, and his opinions on race and immigration. After the Archbishop left the air, it again returned to race, immigration and remarks hardly indicative of the Catholic Church’s stance on poverty, race and immigration. As a Catholic who wants to see our church heal, I just don’t find it productive to have our church and its leaders connected to the opinions of an angry talk show host. We are judged by the company we keep.
