Some Catholics might not know what it’s like to experience a full church, fully participating, in the Mass.
That is about to change.
Faithful throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are invited to participate in “Mass Mob Philly,” an evangelization initiative Sunday, March 23 at the 11:15 a.m. Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, The Oratory, at 24th and Green Streets in Philadelphia.

Borrowed from the idea of flash mobs and modeled after a successful grassroots program developed in the Diocese of Buffalo, a “Mass mob” encourages Catholics to come together in an organized fashion and in large numbers to attend Mass at a designated parish.
Like a flash mob, Mass mobs are organized almost entirely through social media. Future venues for Mass mobs will be put up for vote on their various social media channels.
All Mass mobs will be planned collaboratively with the parish staff, and can occur only with approval from parish leaders.
The Mass mob initiative is organized entirely by lay Catholics with support from various parishes. Visit www.massmobphilly.org for more information.
