Father James J. McLaughlin, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and a resident of St. Mary’s Manor in Lansdale, died Thursday, June 26.
Ordained on May 16, 1970 at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia by Cardinal John Krol, Father McLaughlin served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Fallsington; St. Eleanor Parish, Collegeville; St. Barnabas Parish, Philadelphia; St. Jerome Parish, Philadelphia; St. Matthew Parish, Philadelphia; and Corpus Christi Parish, Lansdale. He taught at Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia; Lansdale Catholic High School, Lansdale; and Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia.
Father McLaughlin also served as a military chaplain in the United States Navy from 1982 to 1986. He retired from active ministry in 2010.
A viewing will be held at Corpus Christi Church, Lansdale, on Wednesday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bishop Michael J. Fitzgerald will celebrate the funeral Mass on Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. with a viewing beginning at 9 a.m.
