Nine men took their first step toward ordination as permanent deacons in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as they received the rite of candidacy on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Immaculate Conception Chapel at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Accepted as candidates in the formation program, the men will in subsequent years receive the ministries of reader and acolyte before ordination as deacons in four years.
