In support of continued relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, Archbishop Charles Chaput is asking all archdiocesan parishes to take up a one-time special collection on a weekend of their choosing in November.
All contributed funds will support hurricane victims in the United States through Catholic Charities USA, and aid to the people of Haiti and other victims through Catholic Relief Services.
Individuals may also contribute directly to the efforts by visiting the websites of Catholic Charities USA or Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic Church in the United States.
The special collection is part of a national initiative called for by Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, to benefit the victims of natural disaster throughout the nation.
