Event Description
“Spirit of Philadelphia: A 100th Anniversary of WWI Story” by G. J. House was published Christmas Eve as a historical fiction of honor, resilience and faith during WWI with Philly families and several neighborhoods. The main character works at the largest ship-building enterprise in the world — Hog Island, now the Philadelphia International Airport. The book cover has a National Archive photo depicting work expectancies at Hog Island at the time.
The author was born in Abington and attended the former St. Joseph the Worker School in Fallsington and Bishop Conwell High School, Levittown, and is a Secular Franciscan who, although fictionalized family stories, wanted to preserve and share them along with Pennsylvania heritage, especially Philadelphia’s faith foundation.
For more information see the Barnes & Noble website. And although the book launch is in its beginning stages, there are reviews on Amazon.
