Sister Anne Marie Meehan, I.H.M., formerly Sister Marita Bernard, died Jan. 29 in Camilla Hall, Immaculata in the 68th year of her religious life. She was 88 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1949 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia and professed her vows in 1952.
Sister Anne Marie taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as well as in the Dioceses of Camden and Hartford. Before Sister Anne Marie’s last assignment in the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall, she was a visitor to the sick and elderly in Holy Innocents Parish, Philadelphia.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 3 at Camilla Hall. The principal celebrant and homilist was Msgr. Joseph Logrip; concelebrating was Father William E. Dean.
In addition to her congregation of I.H.M. Sisters, Sister Anne MArie is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Bridget McHugh Meehan, siblings, Bernard (Emily), John (Mary), Patricia Callanan (Martin), and Sister Maureen Ann, I.H.M.
