St. Stanislaus Parish in Lansdale will host a presentation on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’.
The free talk, which is part of the parish’s “Growing in Faith Together” (GIFT) program, will take place on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. in the parish center’s lobby meeting room. No registration is required.
John Humphreys, a Catholic scientist and conservationist, will survey the encyclical, which is a thoughtful essay on the environmental problems facing our planet, and will then discuss its significance to mankind as a whole. More than a response to climate changes, the encyclical covers all the threats to “our common home,” based on Catholic social teaching. In so doing, it points to avoiding the idol of excessive consumerism and taking care of the least of God’s children
