The Phyllis Martin Day annual program honors the memory of Phyllis Martin, Obl. O. Praem. Dr. Francl- Donnay’s background in both chemistry and theology brings a unique perspective to the relationship between and intersection of science and religion within the Catholic tradition of “Faith Seeking Understanding.” Her teaching invites both scientists and religious believers to look at what is a common reality from the other’s unique perspective. Her topic for this year’s lecture is “Quantum Spirituality”.
Michelle Francl-Donnay, Ph. D., is a professor of Chemistry at Bryn Mawr College and an Adjunct Scholar of the Vatican Observatory. Dr.Francl-Donnay addresses the intersection of science and religion. A prolific writer and widely published, her reflections on the contemplative life can be found in a number of print and online venues. She also leads retreats on a wide range of topics including:
Praying with the Desert Fathers and Mothers and St Ignatius of Loyola’s Examen. Her recent works in print include daily reflections for the liturgical seasons, many of them in Give Us This Day.
