Lent is a time to return to the Lord with your whole heart (cf. Joel 2:12), and to live out a dynamic, committed relationship with Christ through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Most parishes offer Lenten activities for their parishioners and visitors.
All the faithful are encouraged, when possible, to do the following:
1. Participate at Mass and receive the Eucharist daily.
2. Celebrate frequently the sacrament of penance.
3. Do spiritual reading, and in particular to study the sacred Scriptures,
4. Join in parish Lenten devotions such as the Stations of the Cross, penance services, rosary devotions and Lenten education and faith formation programs.
5. Adore Christ in the Blessed Sacrament during Lent.

Catholics are also encouraged to assist those in need through programs such as CRS Operation Rice Bowl, which through Catholic Relief Services aids millions of hungry people throughout the world, the United States and the Philadelphia area.
