Sister Rose Amata O’Donnell, S.S.J. (formerly Mary Elizabeth O’Donnell), 96, died Jan. 4 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown.
The daughter of the late John and Julia O’Donnell, she attended Little Flower Grade School and John W. Hallahan and Little Flower High Schools in Philadelphia.
In September 1942 she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1950.
Sister Rose ministered in the archdioceses of Philadelphia and Newark and the Diocese of Harrisburg.
The sister of Catherine Morse (Bleeker) and the late Sister Joan Cecilia, S.S.J., Ann Kallenbach (Karl), Margaret Ness and Robert O’Donnell, she is also survived by members of her congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 8 at St. Joseph Villa.
