Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez

I am deeply pleased to welcome the Holy Father’s latest encyclical, Fratelli Tutti. This profound and beautiful teaching document emphasizes that we are all brothers and sisters made in the image and likeness of God. This work deserves careful attention from all people of good will. Pope Francis’ call for us to work in harmony to build and promote a just global society is one that resonates loudly within the human spirit regardless of faith tradition.

As we continue to navigate the challenging waters of the coronavirus pandemic around the world, the Holy Father reminds us that “No one can face life in isolation … We need a community that supports and helps us.” He provides tangible ways to promote a life marked by the flavor of the Gospel.”

In the name of the priests, deacons, religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, I extend sincere gratitude to our Holy Father for his wisdom and pray for the continued fruits of his Petrine ministry.

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez
Archbishop of Philadelphia
