A small committee of Sacred Heart Parish in Royersford wanted to celebrate the end of pandemic isolation and bring the community together in a safe and healthy way.
So the members organized the HEART Community Walk — Happily Emerging in Action, Royersford Together — and the event took place Saturday, June 5. Parishioners and neighbors strolled around on a one-mile or three-mile route through the Royersford Borough.
After 8 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Father Tadeusz Gorka gave a blessing, noting the importance of good spiritual and physical health, and the walkers took off under a sunny blue sky. Participants wore red t-shirts with the attached logo. Royersford Mayor Jenna Antoniewicz stopped by to wish the participants well.
Snacks were provided for all participants, and a grab-and-go lunch was served for the local first responders. Sacred Heart thanks the police, fire and EMS personnel who serve the community so faithfully.
In addition, support for the walk came from the following local businesses: Costco, Giant, Corropolese Bakery, Giovanni’s Pizza, Cranberry Street Boutique and Handel’s Ice Cream.
Sacred Heart hopes to make the walk an annual event.
