St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Wayne is holding its 20th anniversary 9/11 Blue Mass and Ringing of the Bell Ceremony to honor the sacrifices of first responders.
Participants will pray for police officers, firefighters and EMTs (emergency medical technicians) and the work they do. The public servants will have prominent roles in the Blue Mass as well as the solemn bell ceremony where the emergency code for a fallen firefighter is tapped out to honor deceased first responders on the fire bell of Radnor Township’s first firetruck.
The fire companies of Berwyn, Paoli and Radnor and the Tredyffrin Police Department are expected to participate as well as local public officials.
The Mass, celebrated by the pastor, Father Stephen Moerman, begins at 10 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues, located at 50 West Walker Road at Valley Forge Road, Wayne.
The ecumenical and civic bell ceremony will follow Mass and take place in the outdoor prayer garden, after which refreshments will be served.
