Catholic men, and their wives if married, with a deep spiritual life who are between the ages of 29 and 55 are invited to join an in-person panel of clergy for either of two Permanent Diaconate information sessions in December.

The sessions will explore the call to serve Jesus Christ and his church within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as permanent deacons:

Monday Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Mary Magdalene Parish (St. Francis Hall), 2400 North Providence Road, Media, PA  19063

Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Innocents Parish, 1337 East Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA  19124

In September, the Office of Permanent Deacons premiered a 9-minute documentary on the Permanent Diaconate in Philadelphia, entitled “Called to Service.”

The video answers the question, “Who is the deacons?” And while educating the viewer on the origins of the diaconate, as well as identifying the sacramental union with all of the clergy, the video focuses primarily on the deacon’s main charism of charity and how he lives out this charism in the world through his ministry, in his secular vocation, and for those who are married – in his marriage and family life.
