Students, staff, and families from archdiocesan schools throughout the five-county Philadelphia area participated in various acts of service Jan. 16 to celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. From feeding the hungry to sorting donations, students honored Dr. King’s legacy by volunteering their time and talents to strengthen our communities.

Over twenty students from Pope John Paul II High School volunteered at The Patrician Society of Norristown sorting donations, painting, and restocking food pantry shelves.

Students at West Catholic High School volunteered at the National Constitution Center to organize donations of books and school supplies for Philadelphia school students.

Students at Our Mother of Consolation School in Philadelphia prepared groceries and sandwiches for those experiencing food insecurity as well as cards for senior citizens and bonding squares for families navigating the NICU journey.
School families at St. Joseph/St. Robert Catholic School volunteered their time by making 60 Jared Boxes for Doylestown Hospital filled with toys, games, coloring books, and crayons to brighten a child’s hospital stay.
Students at St. Katharine Drexel Regional Catholic School in Holland prepared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to benefit those in need and who receive services at Mother of Mercy House in Kensington.
Students at Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School volunteered time at St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Catherine of Siena Parish to sort food and restock the pantry shelves.
Students at Saint Andrew School in Drexel Hill volunteered to make 100 sandwich and snack bags for those facing food insecurity as well as blessing bags for nurses at Bryn Mawr Hospital among other service projects.
