Sister Marie Albert Hetzel, SSJ, died March 9, 2023 at the age of 92.

The daughter of the late Albert and Virginia (Schwakoff) Hetzel, she attended Saint Helena School and Little Flower High School in Philadelphia, PA. She earned a Bachelor’s degree at Chestnut Hill College, a Master’s and a Doctoral Degree in Education at Temple University.

Sister Marie Albert ministered in the Dioceses of Charlotte, NC and Philadelphia, PA. She was an elementary school teacher and principal. She served as a supervisor, and assistant superintendent of the Office of Catholic Education in Philadelphia. After retirement, Sister Marie Albert volunteered as development coordinator at Saint Helena School.

Sister of the late Albert and Robert Hetzel, she is survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and members of her Congregation, The Sisters of Saint Joseph.

A private Funeral Mass was held on Friday, March 17 at Saint Joseph Villa.
