Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez celebrated Mass March 25 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul for the annual Archdiocesan Mass for Persons with Disabilities. The Mass, sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office for Persons with Disabilities and the Deaf Apostolate, is offered for the intention of persons with disabilities, the deaf community, their families, friends, and caregivers.
At the conclusion of Mass, the One Body in Christ Award was presented to Edward Keenan from Roman Catholic High School for exemplifying the spirt of a Missionary Disciple by valuing the dignity of all people. Coordinated by Keenan, the Alumni-Student Intergenerational Service Team (ASIST Program) is open to seniors at Roman. The seniors are partnered with participating older and disabled alumni providing students with the opportunity to interact with alumni, some of whom live at home or a variety of healthcare facilities.
