Sister Rita Edward Karnell, SSJ
Sister Rita Edward Karnell SSJ (formerly Sister Rita Edward), age 90, died May 6, 2023, at Saint Joseph Villa.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Eleanor (Moran) Karnell, she attended St. James Grade School and West Catholic High School.
In September 1952 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1960.
Sister Rita ministered in the Dioceses of Allentown, Camden, Harrisburg, Newark and Philadelphia.
She is survived by cousins and members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:30 AM. at Saint Joseph Villa. Services will also be live streamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website, www.stjosephvilla.org.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sister’s name to Saint Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031.
