Sister Mary Denise Clifford SSJ, (formerly Sister John Denise), age 80, died May 2, 2023, at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

The daughter of the late Herbert Leland and Marguerite Marie Clifford, she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Grade School in Morton, Pa. and Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Pa.

In September 1962 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1970.

Sister Denise ministered in the Diocese of Philadelphia.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Deirdre Keib and her brother-in-law, Richard Hess. She is survived by her brother, Leland Clifford (Corrine), and sister, Constance Hess. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and
members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Villa. Services will also be live streamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website, www.stjosephvilla.org.
