On Dec. 8 Pope Francis named Reverend Keith J. Chylinski, Rector of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary; Reverend Christopher R. Cooke, Dean of Men in the School of Theology at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary; and Reverend Efren V. Esmilla, Pastor of Saint James and Saint Martin of Tours Parishes; as Auxiliary Bishops to serve the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and her people. Archbishop Pérez held a news conference at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center to introduce the new bishops-elect. Following the news conference, the Archbishop concelebrated Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Bishops-elect at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
