Sister Louisa Schumacher SSJ (formerly S. Saint Oswald Schumacher), age 85, died February 21, 2024, at Saint Joseph Villa.

The daughter of the late Oswald and Klara (nee Munterfering) Schumacher, she attended Resurrection Grade School and St. Hubert High School.

In September 1957 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1965.

Sister Louisa ministered in the Dioceses of Arlington, Baltimore, Camden, Newark, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and Wilmington, Delaware.

Sister of Oz Schumacher, Susan Plage, and the late Clara Weinhardt, she is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, their extended families, and by members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 26, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown. Services will be livestreamed at www.stjosephvilla.org.
