Sister Mary Theresa Shevland SSJ (formerly Sister Teresita Marie), age 78, died June 22, 2024, at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

The daughter of the late Laurence and Mary (McNamee) Shevland, she attended St. Denis Grade School In Ardmore, Pa, and Prendergast High School.

Sister Mary Theresa ministered in the Dioceses of Philadelphia and Washington, DC.

The sister of William Shevland (Susan), Connie Gordon (Michael) and the late Laurence Shevland, she is also survived by nieces, nephews and members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

Relatives, religious and friends are invited to a Viewing at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 at St. Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 7 p.m. Services will be livestreamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website www.stjosephvilla.org. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sister’s name to Chestnut Hill College Advancement Office, 9601 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia PA 19118.
