Sister Joseta Ernest SSJ, (formerly S. Joseta Maureen,) age 79, died on August 20, 2026, at Riddle Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of the late Joseph E. and Kathleen C. (nee Hines) Ernst, she attended St. John Chrysostom Grade School and Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Pa.

In September 1964 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1972.

SisterJoseta ministered in the dioceses of Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Trenton.

She is preceded in death by Philomena Ernest. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Gray (George), many nieces and nephews, and members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia.

Family and friends are invited to Saint Joseph Villa beginning at 9:30 AM on Friday September 4, 2026. A Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Services will be live-streamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website www.stjosephvilla.org.
