Sister Mary Catherine Walton SSJ, (formerly S. Rita Bernard), age 87, died on March 10, 2025, at Saint Joseph Villa.

The daughter of the late Bernard and Rita (nee McConville) Walton, she attended St. Boniface Grade School and St. Boniface Business School.

In September 1954 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1962.

Sister Mary Catherine ministered in the dioceses of Camden, Newark, Paterson and Philadelphia.

She is preceded in death by her brother George and sister Anne Marie (Sr. Miriam Joseph, SSJ). She is survived by her brothers Joseph and Michael, nieces, nephews, their extended family, and members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Philadelphia.

Visitation by relatives and friends will begin at 9:30 am on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Saint Joseph Villa in Flourtown. A Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Services will be live-streamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website www.stjosephvilla.org.
