Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School has named Sarah Monaghan as head coach of the varsity girls’ basketball team.

Monaghan, a 2014 alumna, brings both playing and coaching experience to the role. She currently leads the school’s guidance department. 

“I am so proud to be the next head coach at my alma mater,” said Monaghan. “I grew up going to Prendie basketball games and was lucky enough to wear the jersey myself alongside my sister Alyssa. I am very grateful for Stew’s (longtime head coach Tom Stewart) mentorship and leadership over the last 13 seasons as a player as well as his assistant coach.”

Monaghan, who played under and coached alongside Stewart, will be joined by her sisters Alyssa ’15, Emily ’18, and longtime assistant Amber Ballinger ’15.

“We are ready to take this program to the next level,” she said.

A Cabrini University graduate with a master’s in school counseling from Eastern University, Monaghan is a member of St. Bernadette Parish in Drexel Hill.
