Sister St. Herman D’Uva, SSJ
Sister St. Herman D’Uva SSJ, (Lucy Cecilia D’Uva), age 98, died on May 13, 2026, at Saint Joseph Villa.
The daughter of the late Pasquale and Vincenza (nee Altieri) D’Uva, she attended Our Lady of Consolation Grade School and St. Hubert High School.
In September 1946 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1954.
Sister St. Herman ministered in the dioceses of Newark and Philadelphia.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Armand and sister, Josephine Pinto. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Joanne Foster, John Pinto, Michael Pinto, grandnieces, grandnephews, and members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia.
Friends are invited to St. Joseph Villa beginning at 9:30 AM on Monday , May 18, 2026. A Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Services will be livestreamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website www.stjosephvilla.org.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sister’s name to Saint Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031.
