On Monday, June 22, Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez met at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center with Dr. Jeannine Marino, J.C.D., a canon lawyer with expertise in the work of beatification and canonization, who presented a petition requesting consideration of initiating the process for Bucks County teen Maria Middleton.

Middleton, who died at age 18 following a serious illness, was known for her Catholic faith, service to others and leadership in her parish, school, and community. Her parents, Brian and Susan Middleton, also attended the meeting, along with archdiocesan clergy and canon law experts. Read CatholicPhilly’s coverage of the meeting here.
