Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez is asking parishes, religious communities, and institutions throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to include a special prayer intention for Catholic school and religious education administrators and teachers during Sunday Masses Aug. 16 and 23.
The intention asks that all administrators and teachers in archdiocesan high schools, elementary schools, and religious education programs “reclaim a renewed faith in Jesus Christ, our hope, our light and our joy,” and witness boldly to him in word and deed for the benefit of their students.
The prayer is being offered in preparation for the Archbishop’s Days for Educators, scheduled for Aug. 25-27. During the three-day gathering, the archbishop will meet with administrators and teachers from the archdiocese’s high schools and elementary schools, as well as directors, coordinators, and administrators of religious education programs.
The theme of the gathering is “Reclaiming in Christ, Our Hope, Our Light and Our Joy.”
The faithful are encouraged to pray for the spiritual fruitfulness of the educators’ gathering and for those entrusted with forming students in the faith.

For all administrators and teachers in the Archdiocesan High Schools, Elementary Schools, and Religious Education Programs, that they may reclaim a renewed faith in Jesus Christ, our hope, our light and our joy, to witness boldly to him in word and deed for the glory of God and the benefit of all their students. Let us pray to the Lord.
