Over 1,000 students from Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia gathered Oct. 16 at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul for a Mass honoring the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez was the principal celebrant and homilist, and Auxiliary Bishop Keith J. Chylinski concelebrated.

The liturgy served as the keynote celebration of the Archdiocese’s Sacred Heart Initiative, with students participating as readers, altar servers, gift bearers, and choir members. Celebrated on the memorial of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the Mass highlighted devotion to the Sacred Heart and the mission of Catholic education. (Photos by Sarah Webb.)
