Sister Edward Mary McBride, I.H.M.

Sister Edward Mary McBride, I.H.M., died June 7 in Paoli Hospital in the 65th year of her religious life. She was 86 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1950 from St. Matthew Parish in Philadelphia and professed her vows in 1953.

Sister Edward Mary taught music and elementary school classes and served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for more than 40 years. Her last assignment was at St. Matthew School, Northeast Philadelphia, where she tutored students. She retired in 2013 to Camilla Hall for the Apostolate of Prayer.

The funeral Mass was celebrated June 12 at Camilla Hall, Immaculata. The principal celebrant and homilist was Father William E. Dean.

In addition to her loving congregation of I.H.M. Sisters, she is survived by many loving cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Mary (McCloskey) McBride.
