Bishop Timothy C. Senior, auxiliary bishop of Philadelphia, will represent Cardinal Justin Rigali at an interreligious service Saturday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. in Philadelphia to commemorate the anniversary of September 11, 2001. Participants at the service will pray for peace and healing, particularly in light of the possible Quran burning in Florida.
Governor Ed Rendell is asking representatives from several faiths and members of the public to join together for the service in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia to reaffirm the principles of religious tolerance and respect that are at the foundation of American freedom.
Bishop Senior invited pastors of the Archdiocese in a letter sent Friday, Sept. 10 to share the information with parishioners and encourage them to attend.
