Michael A. O’Toole has been named principal of La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, effective July 1.
“I am grateful to have a man of such caliber join our administrative team,” said Christian Brother Richard Kestler, who made the announcement Feb. 21.
Joseph L. Marchese, current principal of the school, will step down at the end of the academic year due to health reasons.
O’Toole is not only a former English teacher and vice principal of La Salle, he is also a 1968 graduate of the school. Currently he is headmaster of Holy Ghost Preparatory School in Bensalem.
He holds both an A.B. and M.A. in American civilization from the University of Pennsylvania and earned a master’s in education at Columbia University.
“I am honored to rejoin the community of teachers, students, parents and alumni at one of the best college prep schools anywhere — La Salle College High School,” O’Toole said.
O’Toole is a native of Philadelphia and currently lives in Elkins Park with his wife Mary Louise Castaldi. He has two children, Lara and Dan, who is a 2005 graduate of La Salle College High School.
