Sister Adorata Basara of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Third Order Regular of St Francis, died April 20 at St. Joseph Villa, Mt. Alvernia, Reading, PA, where she had resided since 2007.
Born in Manayunk, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Kozak) Basara.
Sister Adorata entered the Bernardine Order on Feb. 1, 1947, and was in her 66th year of religious life. Sister earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Records from Mt Carmel Mercy, Detroit, MI. She served her ministry in Pennsylvania and Virginia as a teacher, medical records, librarian and superior.
Sister is survived by her sister: Anna Marie Rameneuskas, Mount Laurel, NJ, her nephew, Dr. Matthew Basara of Delran, NJ, and her niece, Diane Lamsback of Marlton, NJ. Sister was preceeded in death by her sister, Sister Placidia Basara, also a Bernardine Franciscan Sister.
A viewing will be held at St Joseph Villa, Reading, PA on Monday, April 22, 2013, after 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, Mt Alvernia, Reading, PA, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters’ cemetery, Mt Alvernia.
