The four Serra Clubs in the Philadelphia region sponsored a reception and dinner Thursday, Oct. 23 at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary to raise funds for vocations awareness programs in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
The sole purpose of Serra is the promotion of religious vocations, and the participating clubs were Philadelphia Serra Club, Del-Chester Serra Club, Central Delaware County Serra Club and Northeast Philadelphia Serra Club.
Proceeds from the event will aid a new program for college-age young men to discern a possible calling to the priesthood. It will be similar to the successful Quo Vadis Retreat Program last summer that saw 101 teens aged 13-18 attending a summer three-day camp for fun and discernment at the Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville, Lancaster County, according to Father Stephen DeLacy, director of the archdiocesan Vocation Office for Diocesan Priesthood.
