Registered nurse Molly Crumley, director of operations at Mercy LIFE’s Valley View Center in Elwyn, Delaware County, recently received the Sister Mary Concilia Moran Award for her work with the blind and deaf residents and staff at the center.

The annual award, presented by the Catholic Health Association of the United States, is one of the top awards given to professionals working in Catholic health care organizations.

The award was created in memory of Sister of Mercy Mary Concilia Moran, and it is presented to “an individual in Catholic health care recognized for creativity and breakthrough thinking that advances the ministry.”

Crumley led the transition of Valley View at Elwyn to become Mercy LIFE – Valley View, a first-of-its kind program specifically designed to serve deaf and blind seniors and their families in the Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) model of care.

Under Crumley’s leadership, three care providers who are deaf became certified nurse aides, and eight more will be enrolled in the certification program over the next two years.
