The archdiocesan Office for Hispanic Catholics will host an online Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. via the office’s Facebook page.

The event will feature a message from Archbishop Nelson Pérez, as well as prayers and reflections from Philadelphia Auxiliary Bishop Edward Deliman and newly ordained Baltimore Auxiliary Bishop Bruce Lewandowski, who as a Redemptorist priest previously served the Spanish-speaking community in Philadelphia.

Musical performances by La Coral Hispana, under the direction of composer Damaris Thillet, and by singer Silvia Mariella will also be featured.

Due to COVID precautions, the virtual format temporarily replaces the annual Hispanic Heritage Mass, which in recent years has been celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Philadelphia. The longtime festival of faith and culture usually draws hundreds of participants from 37 parishes and three worship sites in the archdiocesan Hispanic Apostolate.
