Chill and rain didn’t keep competitors off the track at the 126th running of the Penn Relays this week, America’s oldest and largest track and field festival that gathers thousands of athletes of all ages at Franklin Field. Archbishop Nelson Perez stopped by the venerable Philadelphia tradition, which concludes this Saturday, on April 26 to chat with CYO runners and relay carnival officials — and even fired the starting gun for a race.
