Continuing his practice of giving back to the Philadelphia community, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick recently paid a surprise visit to a local Catholic school on GivingTuesday.
The Camden native visited St. Malachy Catholic School in North Philadelphia, the morning of Nov. 28. Some 200 students, all 5th graders, each received a donated coat thanks to Reddick and UnitedHealthcare.
St. Malachy is one of 14 Independence Mission Schools (IMS), a nonprofit network of independent Catholic schools serving 4,000 students in grades Pre-K to 8 from families in and near Philadelphia.
Reddick spoke to the students about the importance of being able to exercise year-round and hoped the coats would keep students warm while playing outside this coming winter.
The event was made possible by Dreambuilders Foundation and BLOCS (Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools).
