Youstina Safar, a resident of Bethlehem and a student at Bethlehem University, recently collaborated with London-based band Ooberfuse to deliver a hopeful message through their Christmas song, Hear Angels Cry, with the goal to inspire people throughout the world to pray in solidarity for peace in the Holy Land.

According to Vatican News, Pope Francis has praised the song and its theme of light.

In a message addressed to Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster, President of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales (CBCEW), Pope Francis expressed his hope that the song “will inspire many people this Christmas to pray for a new flourishing of fraternal solidarity, reconciliation and peace in the Holy Land.” The message was communicated by the Holy See’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Hear Angels Cry can be listened to on YouTube and streamed on Spotify and Apple Music. Fundraising efforts for the suffering in the Holy Land can be supported by buying the song via Amazon.

Proceeds from the song will go to Friends of the Holy Land, a UK charity which is also registered in Palestine. Through its Bethlehem office, it can get urgent and personalized aid to the families most in need in Gaza and the West Bank.
