Retired Deacon Leonard J. Diana, age 84, died on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Deacon Diana served in the Unites States Air Force from 1958 until 1962. He graduated from Temple University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. He was a self-employed accountant for many years, and later performed administrative work at the Cathedral Rectory.

Deacon Diana was ordained on June 1, 1997, by the Most Reverand Joseph F. Martino, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. He was assigned to Saint Kevin’s Parish, Springfield, where he remained until his retirement on June 1, 2014.

Deacon Diana was married to his wife Julie since September 4, 1965. Their marriage produced three sons: the late Leonard (died in 2015); Anthony and Robert. In addition to his wife and two sons, Deacon Diana is also survived by six grandchildren and a brother.

Reception of his body and viewing will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saint Kevin Parish, 200 West Sproul Road, Springfield. The principal celebrant and homilist will be Reverend John J. Novielli, O. Praem. Deacon of the Mass will be Deacon Edward Schiappa. Interment Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
