Retired Permanent Deacon Joseph E. Iannucci

Retired Deacon Joseph E. Iannucci passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 90.

He was ordained on May 29, 1988, by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. He was assigned to Saint Pius X Parish, Broomall, where he remained until his retirement on February 11, 2013.

Deacon Iannucci was born on September 9, 1934, to the late James and Teresa (née Lucente) Iannucci. He was raised in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School. He began his formation for ministry at Saint Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore, completing his freshman through junior years before answering the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany and served in the Intelligence Division. Upon completing his military service, he returned home and completed his undergraduate studies at Saint Joseph’s University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 1962. Following graduation, he began a long and dedicated career with State Farm Insurance, where he worked until his retirement in 1997.

Deacon Iannucci is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith  (nee: Ventrola) Iannucci. He is also survived by his two sons, Michael and David,  four grandchildren, and his brother Dr. David Iannucci.

Reception of the Body and viewing will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saints Pius X Church, 220 S. Lawrence Road, Broomall. Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald will be the principal celebrant. Concelebrant and Homilist will be Reverend Monsignor William C. Kaufman. The Deacon Assisting at the Liturgy of the Word will be Deacon Kenneth Belanger, and  Deacon Assisting at the Altar will be Deacon Eugene Favinger. Interment will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
