Reverend Henry James Hutchins, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Pius X Parish, Broomall, died on Saturday, April 12, 2026.

Father Hutchins was born on October 18, 1941, in Chester, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Harry Hutchins and the late Margaret Frame. Father Hutchins attended Resurrection Grade School, Chester, and Saint James High School, Chester, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Hutchins was ordained on May 20, 1967, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Hutchins served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Hilary of Poitiers Parish, Rydal; Saint Alice Parish, Upper Darby; Mother of Divine Providence Parish, King of Prussia; Saint Helena Parish, Philadelphia; and Our Lady of Calvary Parish, Philadelphia. He also served on the faculty at Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia. He served as Pastor, at Holy Cross Parish, Philadelphia from 1993-2000. In 2000 he was appointed Pastor, at Saint Pius X Parish, Broomall, and named Pastor Emeritus in 2012. In 2012 he was appointed Parochial Vicar, with senior priest status, at Holy Cross Parish, Springfield, until he retired in June 2015.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Pius X Church, Broomall, on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 9:00 AM followed by a viewing. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Charles Kennedy, and Monsignor Patrick Sweeney will be the homilist.

Father Hutchins is survived by his cousins.

Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
