Sister Theresa Cargan, SSJ, formerly Sister Alma Theresa, age 90, died on April 7, 2026, at Saint Joseph Villa.

The daughter of the late John and Theresa (nee McGovern) Cargan, she attended St. Carthage Grade School and West Catholic High School.

In September 1956 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1964.

Sister Theresa ministered in the dioceses of Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Raleigh, NC and Wilmington.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, John and Patrick Cargan, and sisters, Mary McGillian and Margaret McGovern. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia.

Friends are invited to Saint Joseph Villa on April 24, 2026, beginning at 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Services will be livestreamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website.
