Reverend Martin E. Woodeshick

Reverend Martin E. Woodeshick, Pastor Emeritus, Holy Spirit Parish, Sharon Hill, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Father Woodeshick was born on August 25, 1942, in Darby, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Hugo F. Woodeshick and the late Marjorie O’Donnell. Father Woodeshick attended Saint Cyril’s Parochial School, East Lansdowne, and Monsignor Bonner High School, Drexel Hill, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Woodeshick was ordained on May 17, 1969, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Woodeshick served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Agnes Parish, West Chester; Saint Ambrose Parish, Philadelphia; Holy Child Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Edmond Parish, Philadelphia; Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint Bernard Parish, Philadelphia. He also served as Parochial Administrator Saint Peter Parish, West Brandywine. In 1995 he was named Pastor, Holy Spirit Parish, Sharon Hill, and in 2014 he was named Pastor Emeritus. He served as Parochial Vicar with Senior Priest Status at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Strafford, from June 2014 until he retired in June 2019.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Holy Cross Church, Springfield, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Reverend William B. Dooner will be the homilist.

Father Woodeshick is survived by his sisters MaryLouise, Sr. Anne C. Woodeshick RSM, Katherine Sprissler (Fred), Margaret Barry (Brian), and his brother Francis, and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
