Sister Thomasine Marie Hall, IHM

Sister Thomasine Marie Hall died in Camilla Hall on April 30, 2026.  Sister was in the 71st year of her religious life.  Lorraine Mary Hall was born on July 3, 1937. Her parents, John Joseph Hall and Bridget (Sinclaire) Hall, both originally from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, raised their family of six children in Ascension Parish in Philadelphia.

Lorraine attended Ascension elementary school, then one of the largest parishes in Philadelphia, going on to Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls. Upon graduation in 1955, Lorraine entered the Immaculate Heart Sisters on September 8, 1955. Lorraine received her religious habit and her name, Sister Thomasine Marie, on March 8, 1956, and professed her First Vows on August 15, 1957. After her profession in 1957, Sister began her teaching ministry, serving predominantly in elementary grades. Later while in community, Sister earned her A.B. degree in Elementary Education at Immaculata

Sister began teaching second graders at St. Clement School, and for a number of years she continued her career as a primary teacher. Sister taught children in several diocesan schools. Sister served in Our Lady of Pompeii, St. Agatha and in Assumption, West Grove. In 1968 Sister changed both school and grade, going first to Most Blessed Sacrament for fifth grade, then St. Joan of Arc for seventh and next to Holy Family for eighth grade and to St. Joseph in Collingdale for grade 7.  From this time on she focused on students in grade 7 meeting them in different IHM schools in the Philadelphia area including Most Blessed Sacrament, St. Barnabas, Our Lady of Charity and St. Margaret in Reading. When Sister Thomasine left this level, she entered into a new ministry as a tutor at St. Martin of Tours School Educational Center.

In 2012 Sister Thomasine undertook a different form of service assisting at Immaculata University while residing at Pacis Hall.  In 2018 Sister moved from Pacis Hall to Camilla Hall to assist, becoming a full-time resident. After a life of service, Sister Thomasine went to the Lord on April 30, 2026.

In addition to her IHM Community, Sister Thomasine is survived by her brothers Thomas M. Hall (Signe), Francis J.
