Palm Sunday Mass begins Holy Week, liturgies at Cathedral scheduled
Archbishop Charles J. Chaput celebrated Palm Sunday Mass March 24 at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul. Palm Sunday marked the beginning of Holy Week, and the Cathedral will host the following Holy Week liturgies:
Holy Thursday, the Chrism Mass
(B)y the anointing of the Holy Spirit you made your only begotten Son high priest of the new and eternal covenant, and by your wondrous design were pleased to decree that his one priesthood should continue in the Church.
Holy Thursday, the Mass of the Lord’s Supper
Therefore Lord we pray: graciously accept this oblation of our service, that of your whole family, which we make to you as we observe the day on which our Lord Jesus Christ handed on the mysteries of his Body and Blood for his disciples to celebrate; order our days in peace, and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation and counted among the flock of those you have chosen.
