A life of teaching and sanctifying: Images of Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua’s life
Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua, Archbishop Emeritus of Philadelphia, died in his sleep Jan. 31, at the age of 88, at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, where he resided. Cardinal Bevilacqua served as Archbishop of Philadelphia from Feb. 11, 1988 to Oct. 7, 2003. He was elevated to the College of Cardinals on June 28, 1991.
Planning cities for the future
A number of archdiocesan schools participated in the annual Philadelphia Regional Future City Competion, sponsored by the National Engineers Week Foundation, which took place Jan. 28. Fifty-three schools registered for the program and close to 1,000 students worked on creating cities this year.

Cardinal John Patrick Foley, Grand Master Emeritus of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and former President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, died on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Villa Saint Joseph in Darby, Pennsylvania (Delaware County). Cardinal Foley was 76 years old. He was ordained a priest on May 19, 1962, an Archbishop on May 8, 1984 and elevated to the College of Cardinals on November 24, 2007. These images are from many different periods of his very full life.
