Father Santo R. Garzarelli, a retired priest and resident of St. Francis Country House in Darby, died on Thursday, Jan. 19.
Father Garzarelli was ordained for the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) in 1961, and was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1975. He served in Hong Kong, India, and New Guinea, and served as parochial vicar at SS. Cosmas and Damian Parish, Conshohocken; St. Patrick Parish, Kennett Square; Mater Dolorosa Parish, Philadelphia; and Our Lady of Consolation Parish, Philadelphia. Father Garzarelli served as pastor of Mater Dolorosa Parish, Philadelphia, and as parochial vicar with the status of senior priest at Our Lady of Calvary Parish, Philadelphia.
Retired Auxiliary Bishop Louis A. DeSimone celebrated a funeral Mass for Father Garzarelli at St. Donato Church in Philadelphia, on Thursday, Jan. 26. A full obituary will appear in the March edition of The Catholic Standard and Times and online at CatholicPhilly.com
