Reverend Monsignor J. Michael Flood, Pastor Emeritus of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Glenside, died on September 28, 2026.

Monsignor Flood was born on July 14, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Samuel C. Flood and the late Catherine C. Foley. Monsignor Flood attended Saint Cecilia and Saint Martin of Tours Parochial Schools, Philadelphia, and Saint Joseph Preparatory High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Monsignor Flood was ordained on May 18, 1968, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. He was named Honorary Prelate to His Holiness Pope John Paul II on March 24, 2003. Monsignor Flood served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Patrick Parish, Malvern; Saint Malachy Parish, Philadelphia. He served on the Faculty at Cardinal O’Hara High School, Springfield; Saint John Neumann High School, Philadelphia; and Saint Maria Goretti High School, Philadelphia.

He served as Pastor of Saint Madeleine Sophie Parish, Philadelphia. In 1995 he was appointed Pastor of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Glenside, and was named Pastor Emeritus in July 2012.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, Glenside, on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 9:00 AM followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Joseph D. Brandt, Reverend Gasper A. Genuardi, and Most Reverend Edward J. Adams will be the homilist.

Monsignor Flood is survived by his niece.

Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania.
